Today is mine- I'm giving a speech in 20 minutes to all the other teachers. The school has been very good to me, an elementary school.
I prefer a quick farewell as I dislike emotion but its a lo9ng drawn out affair- a meeting, speech, then dinner...Then a late party wiith some friends ..

And of course all the sad kids and their sweet goodbye letters! Its a lot to handle!! Embarassed Sad Embarassed Crying or Very sad

My time is coming to an end as well...only another month. I will likely ask things to remain low key, but it will be somewhat hard. I'm looking forward to leaving though as I haven't been home in over 2 years.

I am hoping to go out to dinner with all three of my co-teachers and won't say anything to the kids until the Friday before (because of the holiday I have to split my time with the 6th grade between that week and the last week one time for each of the eight classes). If they want me to address the other teachers I will, but I too will keep it pretty short.

On my last day, I'm going to try to get out of here at lunch. We have to be out of our apartment by noon the next day. Hopefully I'll be packed by then though.

At my old job my last day was a mix of having little parties with the classes I liked and not going to the classes I didn't, all amidst the chaos of my boss trying to *beep* me around at the last minute (I came out on top, but not before I threw him a nasty surprise).

Well, think of it this way, you may have wanted it to be quick and sweet but at least they care enough to try and make it longer to say goodbye.

Congratulations that you made enough of a positive impact to have people want to say goodbye to you and treat you well.
