Who said there wasn't any drugs in Korea.

Once foreign to Korea, hockey began to take root in the past decade. There are now over 100 ice and in-line hockey teams here and the level of play, at the non-professional level, easily rivals that of Canada.

Tomorrow's story, Korean Rugby = New Zealand, Korean Swimming = Australia, Korean Soccer = England, Korean Basketball = U.S.

Ya, maybe if a group of 16 year old Koreans are playing a group of 10 year old Canadians.

I've seen some pro games here. If it weren't for the Euros in the league, a 3rd division Bantam team can make circles around them.

I will tell you right now, it isn't the same. A bunch of us, older out-of-shape, some just new to hockey, English teachers played a bunch of university players and we won. They are good players, but we still beat them, pathetic.

Exactly. I think a House League Bantam or Midget team wins easy. I played against some Korean players a few times and while they can skate and stickhandle well, they just don't have the hockey sense that comes from playing thousands of hours of hockey. Nor do they have the toughness to play full contact hockey since most haven't been coached to take a hit.

I heard a Canadian teacher team beat the Korean National team in a scrimmage...and most of the Canadians were drunk, as they could only get ice time at 2AM or something, so many of the Canadians went out beforehand.

They should've been sporting like, and tied one hand behind their backs to even it up somewhat. Laughing

Sounds like an urban myth. I have played against some of those guys, and I know that wouldn't happen.

There have been 2 Korean born players in the NHL. One was Jim Peak of the Pittsburg Penguis, who won 2 cups. The other is Richard Park, I think he's on the Islanders now. However, both grew up in North America.

I have no idea. I heard this at a bar. How about a team of the best hockey-playing teachers presently in Korea. Could they beat the Korean National team do you think?

No. Although, I don't think it would be a blow-out either.

3,000 to 5,000 Canadians, mostly guys, mostly younger? I bet they could throw 15-20 together who could beat the national squad, especially if the national squad included no gyopos.
