I am planning on coming over in August to start teaching and I saw some of the different English Villages online that are in different areas in Korea. I've looked at the one in Paju and I think the other one I saw is one close to Nowon. Does anyone on here teach at one or know anything about them. They seem really nice on the outside. I don't know if I want to teach young kids and I think that is mostly the clientele there. It looks like they provide nice housing and it might be cool to work at a private school with other foreigners. I still kind of want to teach at an all girl's school. Thanks!

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I didn't see any other threads on this.

All I want to know is if banana hammock is a double entendre?

E.g. I put my banana in her banana hammock.

I work there, a few others on this board do too. Its a decent place, a good soft landing into esl and a good first job in Asia. Its close enough to Seoul/ilsan and there are lots of other foreigners there. It is kinda strange living in the place you work but the work is fine depending on the program you work in and you could do much worse.

Pm' me if you want details.

^ What he said.

I worked at the Paju EV for a year.

It's easy work, good money, nice community of really good people living there.

Paju is countrified, but I liked it. Having a car there helped me get around a lot.

It was my first gig in Korea, and probably the best. Sometimes I wonder why I left.

I'm not sure, but I think it's slang for the type of tight fitting speedos favoured by German and Russian tourists.

Ok now I'm wondering which English Village would be the best to work for? I remember seeing that there was one in Anyang that I think seemed nice, but it is kind of out of the way. Opinions?

Not Yangpyeong - it's run by religious wierdos (seventh day adventists).

I guess it's some people's cup of tea. It's my recipe for vomitting. It was very interesting to visit the Paju EV, however. What I wouldn't give to see an honest audit of where all the money spent there has gone.

I have a buddy that works there, says it's the easiest job he's ever had in his life, he saves more than he's ever saved in his life, and it's a blast on the weekends (many waygooks to hang with). We came over around the same time last year, and I'm with EPIK in a high school. I can say almost wihtout a doubt that I get more stress at my job, with less money. The only thing I get him in is vacation time (which is substantial) and actually living in Korean culture (EV is not Korea).

Many people, however, would argue that the latter is actual HIS advantage, not mine. Wink
