There's been a little battle raging at my fitness center as of late.

There's a room off the changing room, with comfy mats on the floor, and big blanket-size towels. Typically, at any point in time 3-4 people might be napping on one of the 10 or so mats.

Being pregnant, I enjoy going in there on my lunch break to catch 20 winks. It's been a real lifesaver when I thought I'd pass out with my head on my keyboard. Ah, hell, I enjoy a good nap there any time of year. I always wear an eye mask and earplugs (which don't work so well) to make the most of my nap.

But lately, there's been this ajumah who thinks the room is an extension of her own house. She goes in there, and proceeds to take phone call after phone call, with her phone on full loud ringing. A few times I've gone over to her to ask her to be quiet or go outside, and she's actually hung up her phone and closed her eyes before I over there! Oh, sure, you see me coming, so you play dead! Who are you fooling!?! I'd confronted her 2 or 3 times by this point.

So late last week, I was lying there, just waiting for her to do her usual thing - and it hit me: Her ring tone is "Don't cry for me Argentina", so when her phone rang and she proceeded to start yakking, I sat up and sang to her from across the room:

(to the tune of "Don't Cry for Me Argentina")(with accompanying gestures)
Please don't talk on your handphone!
This is a room, that's meant for sleeping.
But not for talking, just for sleeping.
So please go OUTSIDE! (and be considerate).

The other people in the nap room (who were also awakened by her but are better at putting up with it) all smiled at me.

She got it, scurried out... and I haven't seen her since. Maybe she picked a new sauna time that doesn't overlap with my lunchtime. It's too bad, because I was actually looking forward to humming "don't cry for me Argentina" every time I saw her again, just to drive the point home. I'd LOVE now if she came back and pulled it again... whereas before I'd seethe so much that it interfered with my napping.

Anyone else have creative ways of dealing with rudeness that makes you almost WANT people to be rude to you? (Without actually getting violent or creating such a scene that it gets written up here with the title of "Now I know why Koreans hate foreigners".)

I love it.

I find that a cheeky smile (or even a kiss blown in their direction) is a much more satisfying solution than the dagger-eyes or a crabby remark.

Ah, yes, that reminds me of another time... I was at a No Doubt concert somewhere around Ulchiro 4-ga, and was right up in the front, except for this little chippy who insisted on waving her arm right in front of my face - anywhere else would have been fine, but don't block my frickin' view!

So I started kissing and fondling her elbow, and gave her a very amorous look. And surprise! I had an unobstructed view.

----
And Jinju - And I'm surprised you haven't yet shown me the post from "back when I joined the board".

Hmmn. Maybe I was high on myself because I knew I was moving up in the world, with a classroom with not one, but TWO whiteboards. Or, I know, they'd started appointing the teacher's squat toilet with tissue! That would have been enough to make my head swell, even as late as 2003... but not nearly so much are your ardent attentions as of late..

I'm quite flattered you've been observing me for so long, but why keep it a secret for so many years?

Your actions belie your words, big boy. Kisses to you too, Jinju. It warms me to think of you thinking of me. XO

Ah, after a bit of reading up, I'm darn crushed I didn't have the chance with Jinju... He wrote this just last weekend, too.

Quote:
The last time I cleared under 5 mil a moth my wife was disappointed. See, what you dont know is how much I make outside my job. You dont know what goes into my bank account from other sources. One thing I DONT do is teach for extra dough, Id kill myself. 4 weeks? HAHAHAH

Gosh, yes, my mentioning that I have underlings at work, and comments that (arguably) could be seen as placing teaching work as somehow not as rewarding as other work, are completely out of place and arrogant.

But comments of the like coming from YOU, Kochani, well, they're sssssexy. It gives me optimism to know that you're under such inordinate pressure to perform (at a minumum financially) at home... Oh, Jinju kochani, ja cie bardzo kocham! Ona nie rozumie ciebie... Caluje.

(Wait, you do know sweet-talk in Polish, right?)

It's true. All we women want out of a man is money. It's nice that Jinju doesn't come with a lot of other virtues to distract from his scads and scads of (sadly unavailable) cash.

Can someone post a link where I can sign up or apply for my own stalker? I've been here two plus years now, and I think I'm over 1500 posts on four boards. (There has to be a minimum, right?)
