Sometimes I like to experiment and try some of these strange Korean drinks that you see in the coolers at the store. More often than not, they taste good.

But I bought a 1.5L of McCol (the one with the label that is blue, grey, and yellow, that kind of has that Lipton Ice Tea kind of look to it). First off, it smells like ass. Second, is totally flavorless to the sip. But if you take a few swigs, it tastes like total ass.

Has anyone else tried this? Do people actually drink this or is it supposed to be mix for booze?

(walks off to pour the remaining contents down the drain.)

1 - I'd never experiment with a 1.5 liter bottle of anything -- too reminicent of teenage years wine coolers and it's a waste if you don't like it

2 - How much have you experimented with "ass" to know what it tastes like ? I know some of us are into that but not everyone, thus why I ask

I don't like it either

Congrats on losing like 2

Sorry, gramps...I'll tone down on the contemporary slang...I'll try speaking in like-terms so you can pick up on what I'm putting down. Dig?

How's this...."I tried this drink which turned out to be a real stinker and so I says to the guy, 'hey mack, what gives?'. I swear I was about to give the fella behind the counter a knuckle sandwich. But in walks this broad. I mean what a looker! So I sizes her up and asks 'Hey dame, want a free McCol?' The broad takes it, drinks it all, and we got in her car and skeedaddled to the drive-in. 23 skidoo!"

ASS?????

McColl tastes great! It has a chunky, wheaty, earthy taste, that I find a nice change from boring old Coke.

Man, McCol. The greatest bottled/canned drink made in Korea. Pocari Sweat doesn't even compare.

My oldest memories are of me going to the public baths when I was like, what, 4? 5? I'd always be up for a bath, because I'd be guaranteed a can of this afterwards.

Liquid gold, that's what this is.. :)

McCol, ahhh "The Prophet's" drink...yes, good ole Rev. Moon, Sun-myoung (or their churchie) own the co. that produces McCol (or as I call it, dirt in a can).

First time I drank it, I was in the Moonie Univ. and famished, so I thought a cola would suffice. Ahhh, this McCol thing looks like a soda! Great, caffeine, woohooo!!!

(in front of about 100 Moonies)

Can in hand, crack open, and bottoms up.....until the second gulp hit me.

<must - quell - convulsions>

Uhgh.

Nartsy schtuff, mate, narsty schtuff.

I don't mind the taste of the stuff too much but the smell is absolutely disgusting- someting like rotten prunes. I bought a bottle for mixing drinks one time and the smell just blew me away. As long as you don't breathe in through your nose while sipping it's not so bad.
