Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good fluent, English speaking dcotor here in Seoul.
I have been with the International Clinic in Itaewon and after alot of treatment for a very simple condition nothing has changed so therefore I am wondering whether to trust the doctor here.
Therefore:
Has anyone ever had problems with this clinic before?
If not, should I persevere with the clinic?
Or is there anywhere else in Seoul that comes highly recommended?
Thanks |

You can go to Severance Hospital and where there is a Canadian doctor. I went to see him when I had the flu a few years ago and he was nice. The clinic is expensive.
The funny thing is that my school recieved a flier in the mail stating that a doctor (I can't remember his name) who was trained in the US (but he's Korean) was going to be working out of a clinic here in Incheon. When I called a couple of months later to try to set up an appointment they told me he no longer works there. |

Strangely, I've never been to a doctor in Korea, no matter how small the town or hospital, where the doctor didn't speak at least communicative English. I've met some that spoke better English than me, and of those three, when I asked if they were Gyopo, the invariably answer "No," and have never studied abroad or even had native speaking teachers.
I attribute this to doctors generally being intelligent folk, and the smarter you are, generally, the easier languages are. I'm sure many don't speak English, but the luck of my draw has been 100%. |

I know a doctor near Kong Reung subway station (sorry for the hideous romanziation) who speaks passable english. He is just a GP though. If you need specialized treatment he won't be able to help you. Nice guy but a bit odd and strikes some folks as being a few bricks short of a full load. Actually, I think he's just shy and doesn't interact with people well.
