So, I've heard from a few sources, completely independant of one another, that its possible to teach on a E2 visa without a bachelors degree (both sources have done this), as long as you have an associate degree and a TESL certificate. Can anyone else confirm this?

I heard that the associate degree + TESL cert counts as a degree for visa purposes.

Anyways, please dont send any info unless you know for sure. This forum, as ive found out, is quite full of disinformation and personal agendas.

Thanks for any real, knowledgable information you can give Smile

4 year degree: Required by government to teach legally.
Associates degree: You can get a tourist visa and find a job illegally. Not recommended.

I can confirm to you that you CANNOT get an E2 visa without a bachelors degree (immigration rules).

You cannot LEGALLY teach academic subjects (including English) at any level without a Bachelors degree and that includes Koreans as teachers (ministry of education rules).

Feel free to ignore this and make your application but you will be denied by immigration (100% guaranteed).

It used to be (until 2005) that an American could've gotten an E2 visa with an AA and a 120-hour TESOL certificate

Remember, a few bad apples spoiled the bushle

Tom is usually dead on in terms of information, but others have echoed the same answer. I remember hearing that at some point in the past they did allow people with bachelor's degrees to teach, but it was changed.
