Korea's producing some good films nowadays worthy of your time. But I am wondering which Korean films are the best of the best?

What's your favorite Korean film and do you think it will become a classic?

As for myself, I really love SYMPATHY FOR MR. VENGEANCE by Park Chan Wook. It's a very black, violent comedy. I'm not sure as part of the trilogy including Old Boy whether it will be viewed as a classic in the future. Time will tell I guess.

A Bittersweet Life is pretty amazing..

Erm..A Tale of Two Sisters is crazy..(when you see a ghost and close your eyes..its meant to be gone when you open them!)

I just watched Flying Boys (Ballet gyoseubso) a few week back, thats a cool film too, I recommend all 3 if not seen already..

I'm a fan of the older films:

여고괴담 (the original... eerie Japanese gothic-horror feel to it)
체이지
닥터 봉
Two Cops
Happy End (lying bastards!)
자카르타 (sort of Korea's answer to Lock Stock and Teo Smoking Barrels)
Attack the Gas Station
반칙왕

But favourite??
Art Museum by the Zoo (IMO Shim Eun-ha's best film)

What's the deal with all the hangul here? Are you trying to impress us or have you turned Korean? Laughing

You know not only people living in Korea read Dave's, don't you? Not all of them can read hangul either. Therefore your contribution to this thread is rather vain. The purpose of threads on Dave's is to share information.

SYMPATHY FOR MR. VENGEANCE was a fantastic movie.

But to go on a different route, i really enjoyed "Please take care of my cat". More a drama kind of movie, but really well done for a low-budget movie.

Not all of us know the English titles of Korean movies, either. Why would we when we live in Korea?

타짜 (Tta-cha) or "High Rollers" as it's called in English.

Smart, edgy gambling flick.

Oh, and it shows Kim Hae-su's rack, which should be a frickin' Korean national treasure. Very Happy
