|

Yes I know ANOTHER pension problem. Mine is a little different.
Surprise surprise, my school didnt pay into pension. I was there 3 years ago (I know the limit is 3 years to go back and get it), and I never paid into it nor did my school. They also cheated me on the taxes I paid, and when I requested some forms, the number for my ARC card was XXX'd out! So I have no idea what it was (immigration took it last year when I finally left).
My question: How do I go back and get info on my taxes and pension when I don't have my old ARC number (I work at a public school now and have a NEW arc card). I am planning on going to Daegu and settle this matter once and for all but obviosuly need to know my stuff before I go in
I also heard that for hagwons, we dont get our taxes back when we go to file them - that it only works for public school workers. Is this true? And I am aware that I also will have to pay into ALL the pension that *I* didn't contribute also. I am more than willing to do that.
Any advice would be SOO appreciated!
Thanks. |

Your number stays the same throughout your years in Korea...So your new number should be the same as your old number...Mine always has been, and I've changed schools, left for a year and come back, etc.
Also, you should get taxes back. I've never worked for a public school, and I've gotten taxes back every time I've been here when tax refund time rolled around. |

Your alien number doesn't stay the same in all cases. As you say, you've never worked for a public school before and I think that must be where the numbers do get changed for some reason or another like in the OP's case. This was also true in mine. I've been here for many years and have worked in a number of jobs as well, but it was only after I worked at a public school that I realized that my alien number had been changed. I can't say that this happens to everyone or not. I was wondering why my pension amount was so small. As it turned out, it was basically split in half, half recorded under my old alien number and the rest under the new number. Just this past
Also, in response to the OP, I had saved an old scanned photo of my original alien registration card on my computer which I used when I was applying to jobs, if you did too, you might still have a photo of the number. But I'm guessing you probably don't. |

Go back to the Immigration office. They will have all the info on file and be able to tell you what your last ARC number was. I did that myself about 6 months ago...got 2 of my previous ARCs, but the third was lost in the mists of time (pre-computerized system; paper files destroyed after 10 years) |
