How do I make sure I don't get a bad apt. I will most likely be spending most of my free time writing on my computer and I will need a very good place. I have seen some dope korean apts. that teachers got blindly. I want to teach at a PS and I figure in or around Seoul.....Can I insist on and get pics of the ACTUAL apt. I'm supposed to get? How do I make sure I don't get something awfull? I think if I pick it mysefl, I gotta come up with key $ and I like the ring of free apt. so much better than key money.

Get the best of both worlds. Come up with the key money yourself, but get a housing allowance from your school. That worked well for me last year. $5,000 key money should be sufficient to find a decent pad in most areas of Seoul.

If you do find a PS gig and they're providing housing, chances are the teacher on his/her way out is living there now. Contact them to get info/pics, etc. If it's a hole, go with the option above.

I can't afford key $ and I hear they keep it. How can I see acurate pictures of life in "satelite cities" and are they as boring as they sound? Is seoul going to get me not much for the PS housing allowance $, cause its expensive to rent in Seoul?

They don't keep it. They are legally required to give it back. If it's lost due to a bad investment, they still owe it legally, though may not have it.

Well, end result is sombody can say, "He's moving away, screw him.....Oh I don't have it now, I give to you soon, check in mail." And still, I won't have that much set aside for key $.

I guess I gotta take what they offer, but I wish I could see it and switch if it was awfull.

Definitely request pics. You may or may not get them, but it's worth a shot.
