I get on a bus behind two school girls. Apparently, the bus driver did not see me drop my 1,000 won into the till.

I sit down. Next thing I know, the guy is yelling at me in Korean. Funny stuff. So I answer in Chinese. Bunch of old Koreans on board. I make it clear I paid.

We take off. When we get to my stop, the driver refuses to let me off. Yells at me again. All the old Korean dudes are just quiet.

So, i figure ok. Lets see how this works. I open my wallet walk up to the bus till and drop in a 10,000 won bill. I say to the bus driver, "happy? I walk back to the exit door and point."

The bus driver stares at the till. He just sits there a moment or two. He does not know what to do. Someone just paid 10000 won for a 1000 won ride.

Eventually, he picks up a ledger and writes something. Some of the old people ask something. The bus driver must of said, "The idiot put in 10,000."

I stand by the exit door pointing and say repeated "Let me off."

Now the driver fishes in his own wallet for bills. He puts some 1000 won in his hand and gestures to me. I wave uncaring and say, " I don't care, let me off." I point to the exit door. All the Koreans are just quiet. The bus is just sitting.

After a few gestures by the driver, I walk up and take the change. I get off the bus.

Yeah I paid 2000 won for a 1000 bus ride. But doing that was worth it.

He probably thought you were an idiot and didn't know why you didn't understand the bus ride was only one thousand won.

I rode back from Daegu yesterday. Lost my ticket. Dude didn't want to let me off. He raised his voice and some decreipt hunched over old woman I had never seen before stopped, walked back to the bus, craned her head back, and gave him a proper telling off. He let me off, his head down like a scolded school boy. I felt bad. In the station, I found my ticket stuck to the bottom of my bike bag. I went back and gave it to him. I think he was a little shocked that I produced it.
