A couple of questions about the train to Chuncheon from Cheongnyangni:
1. When I rode this train, it looked as thought there might be a new (perhaps higher-speed) rail line being built along the existing line. Around Gangchon the construction seems to be rolling along nicely. Now I've seen in the Gangchon section of the Lonely Planet, "Subway access is expected to come through by the time this book is printed." Subway? Gangchon? What's this construction about? Is there a new rail link to Chuncheon going in? Does anyone have any information about this?
2. The town that was squeezed into the mountains at Pyeongnae-Hopyeong Station seemed nice. It may have been Namyangju-si, but the administrative district that is "Namyangju-si" is actually huge so I can't be sure. Does anyone know the name of the town at Pyeongnae-Hopyeong Station?
Thanks. |

Dunno but I recommend the slower train if there were two: it's scenic. I wouldn't want to zip by any faster than it goes now. |

There was a link posted on here aeons ago that showed the plans to extend the Seoul subway system by 2010. Part of this was a line running out to Chuncheon. Now if they would just give us a line to Cheongju I would be happy. |
