Okay...I was just reading another thread about good places to live in Korea. That made me think about another story.
I landed in Incheon and drove straight to Namwon. Last weekend was the first time that I actually ventured out into Seoul. What a shock! I realized that I have been living in a bubble. I just figured Korea was the same everywhere you went. Boy was I dead wrong! You think you live in a zoo? I get stared at everywhere I go. There are only 4 pocket ball tables here and no one has figured out how to mix beer with pool.
Being only 1 of 2 Westerners down here makes it very hard. The only source of information I can receive is from The Cafe. hahaha.
You think Hongdae gets old? Well, that was the first time that I didn't have to sit in a booth and order anju!
Cultural Shock is an understatement. But this is what I chose. |

It will be very good for you. I really enjoyed my time in a smallish town ( Pohang ). I think youll have some wonderfull cultural encounters and probably you will learn more Korean than if you were in Seoul as it will be more necessary, considering you only have one other foreigner. Of course, it great to come into the big smoke and paint the town red every now and then. |

Yeah, I've kinda been forced to learn Korean. I think Pohang is a lot bigger than Namwon though. True....trips to Seoul is the only thing that will keep me sane. |

Do you remember that or is it told to you by relatives?
(Sounds a bit like Canada,) He mumbled.
I would hate to have those memories.
