Buyer finds mummy in Spanish flat
By Pascal Harter
BBC News, Barcelona

Holiday homes increasingly dominate Spain's coast.
A man in north-eastern Spain has made an unexpected discovery after buying a new home without seeing it first.
Inside he found the mummified body of the previous owner.

Jordi Giro bought the flat in the Costa Brava resort of Rosas at an auction after the previous owner defaulted on her payments.

He told police that he was shocked on going into the flat for the first time to discover her dead body sitting on the sofa

It is definitely freaky and funny. However, there is a sad aspect to it that no one noticed this woman for so long. Like what about family? Unless, she had no living relatives.

In my humble opinion it is not freaky, not way out, not weird, not funny.

There are numerous reports of bodies found after long periods of death, in varying states of mummification or decomposition.

There are reports of multiple bodies found in one home.

There are reports of a mummified body found in a home, with the TV on.

There are so many reports of this nature that to post them would be a macabre waste of time.

I think it is funny that some people think this is freaky and funny.

German man found after 7 years dead in bed
Fri May 11, 2007 8:30AM EDT

BERLIN (Reuters) - The decomposed corpse of a German man was found alone in his bed after nearly seven years, police in the western city of Essen said Thursday.

The police said in a statement the man was 59 and unemployed at the time of his death. He most likely died of natural causes on November 30, 2000, the date he received a letter from the Welfare Office found in the apartment, police said.

Next to the dead man's bed police found cigarettes, an open television guide and Deutschemark coins, which came out of circulation after the euro was introduced in 2002.

The man's apartment was in a building with offices and apartments, many of which are now empty.

"No one missed him. No missing person report was ever filed," the police said.

it's definitely an interesting story but not as gross or disturbing as the family who found their missing mother dead pinned UPSIDE DOWN behind a bookcase in her room. it took them 11 days to discover her even though they noticed a strange smell beforehand. imagine going about your life worrying about your missing relative to discover that they're already dead and rotting inside your house. ew.
