Hi,

Here's my problem:

I just put together a computer this weekend, and when I installed Windows XP Home, I made three partitions during set-up. Somehow everything ended up on the E: drive. Obviously not what I intended, and I don't know how it happened.

So I decided the only thing to do was to uninstall Windows and do another clean install. But in the Control Panel's "Add and remove programs" section, Windows was not there. And I couldn't find any other way to uninstall it. BTW it's an OEM version, and it hasn't been activated yet (hopefully it's legit), could that be the reason I can't uninstall it?

Anyway, I did a dumb thing and installed it again thinking that it would automatically uninstall the original one. Now I have two Windows XP's installed, One in the C: drive and one in E:.

Can I just reformat the E: drive using the C: drive's OS, and wipe out the original Windows that way? Or is that a bad idea? If so, what are my options? How can I uninstall Windows XP if it is not an option in "Add and Remove Programs?"

Tomorrow the guy from KT is coming to install the internet, and I want to rectify this problem before he comes.

Thank you for any suggestions you might have.

Mark

How big you figure the internet is, anyhow?

Someone tell me this isn't sig worthy...

Sorry OP...not trying to hurt your feelings here. It's not often someone posts something quite so rich. Wink

I knew I was setting myself for something like this, so no offense taken. I already know I'm not as computer literate as you all, that's why I came to you for help. And thank you to those who helped.

But, in Windows Help it tells you to go to Add and Remove Programs, then to click on Windows XP, and it would uninstall it. So that's why I thought you could do it. Now I know you need to have another OS installed before you can do that.

So, according to that, there would be a time when Windows would show up in Add and Remove Programs.

It's the new googolplex gig HD I bought from the guy on the street corner as soon as you walk out Sinyongsan Station, Exit 5. He only has 2 more left so you better hurry. He also has the 8th Harry Potter book.

Thanks for sharing the laugh. Looks like you dropped a fair chunk of change on your new system. Congrats! Cool

If we can be of any more help (minus the ribbing, of course), post away.
