Hi,
Can this be done? I'd like to stash my $ USD somewhere for safety reasons and want quick access to it as I'm month-to-month in Korea.
Thanks |

Yes, you can. Just ask for foreign currency account at any bank in Korea. |

Given my previous experiences with Korean banks; I'm skeptical of their services and the "fine-print." I'm going to deposit a large amount and don't want to be hassled or scrutinized for it when withdrawing the funds.
Well, I guess I can just go into a bank and try ? |

If you're talking about a LARGE amount like in millions of dollars. I know a good place to launder your money. You'll be able to get the money out of Korea and stash it into a nice off-shore account. |

I have a foreign currency account at KEB in Itaewon.
It's really easy to open and they never give ne any hassle about what I am doing with the account.

Over nine years I have had forign currency accounts here in GBP, EUR, JPY, CAD and USD. All have been opened and closed without problem. Some have been from funds brought in, some have been opened with KRW.
The interest rates on foreign currencies here are a whisker better than in, say, UK and US. |

Will any branch open up a foreign currency account or only KEB.
Ilovedbt told me about the Itaewon branch but what about other branches out of the Big Smoke?
Any ideas if Nongyup or whatever it is called does them? Do they offer favourable exchange rates when depositing into them? |
