Hi, all,

I want to clean all the sludge out of my system. I have only used a detoxifyer once in my life and that was over twenty years ago.

What have you tried and how did it help?

Thanks!

Beet soup or juice with turmeric. Nasty tasting, but effective.

"master cleanse" -search online.
basically a 10 day juice fast of only lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper. along with salt water flushes every morning to clean out the digestive track.

i've done it twice now, once in the beginning of last fall and the second time this spring.
it is an amazing way to cleanse, rejuvenate, reenergize, and lose some unwanted pounds as well.

Apples!

Yes apples, try a three day apples only diet. Wait a month then do four day apples only diet. Increase each month to seven days. Use fresh apples differing varieries, make apple sauce, bake apples, apple juice, slice and dice to your hearts content, do not add sugar or any other ingredient, just apples. This will cleanse not only the digestive track but every cell in your body will be invigorated and cleansed.

Give this a read. Leslie Beck is a well respected (and balanced) Canadian dietitian and she gives some good recommendations at the end.

My, my, my. If I did this for 10 days, how in the wolrd could I go teach kids all day? I get tired enough as it is. I'd probably faint.

Cleansing and de-toxification are myths. Just eat healthily, exercise regularly and you will be ok.

Apples for 7 days? Seems like you would be missing alot of the things that the body needs. The master cleanse sounds like something that was on the penn and teller bullshit show. Lemon juice and mape syrup? Give me a break.

How do apples cleanse every cell in my body? links to some scientific research that backs up these wonderous claims would be nice.

I'd go along with that.

What do you imagine is in your body anyway? You know what they say about people who always feel they are dirty in some way............

De-toxing is something sold to rich, bored Californians who can't understand why they are rich but unhappy.

'Maybe a de-tox wll make me happy!'........ Laughing

This detox stuff is Bull. Its considered unhealthy to have more then 3 servings of fruits and vegies in one day.. A single apple is usually around 100 calories, this will starve the crap out of you and your using citric acid and Carb in the form of sugar. This will not only screw you but it will not clean anything. Fruictose is not a healthy sugar.

I eat healthy take it easy on the carbs and thats it.

If you want to feel empty just do Fast Fat diet of 6 protein shakes a day with supliments and 2 scoops of dietary fiber a day and lots of water. There is nothing going to be left in your bowles after that. (This diet was designed for people that are obesse and need fast way to loose fat)

i was very skeptical about the whole cleansing thing myself.
i always thought it was a bit extreme and just another crazy fad made up by the new age weirdos...

but having done two fasts i can tell you it really has done amazing things for my health. primarily by bringing things back into balance. i see fasting as a reset button for my body.
after a few months of eating processed, prepackaged, cafeinated, over-sugared, over-cooked, over-whatever foods, its nice to give the body a break and do some spring cleaning.
fasting is one of the oldest most traditional health options known to man. every civilization has fasting as part of its medical tradition. even the judeo-christian bibles advocate it.
in fact even animals when ill will voluntarily fast.

the best thing i can suggest is to just try it.
i'm sure we've all heard of the ide athat all foods are drugs.
will fasting and limiting intake of foods really brings this home.
cause the states of clarity you experience during a fast alone draws me to this practice.
just think of that hazy, drowsy, mental states we have after eating a big lunch, and consider the exact opposite of that mental state and you can imagine what it can be like fasting.
i'll stop cause i'm starting to sound like one of those weirdeo, a regular jack lalane..lol

btw- someone commented that fasting would be diffiocult to do while teaching.
actually the master cleanse is not a true fast becuase you are conusming all the energy source necessary (maple syrup) to maintain your energy level. of course you wouldn;t be full strength but certainly enough to perform our daily activities.

i suggest people who are in a health/energy rut to do little research on fasting!

cheers!

Get your colon cleaned. You'll be amazed when they show you what was flushed out.

There's your explanation. If you eat like crap all of the time, of course you will feel like it. Change your habits and you will feel better. That's why people generally feel better when they do cleansing diets.

Here's a novel idea, why not just eat well all the time?

(this is not directed at you specifically jhaelin, just a general comment)
