Post Office should take it (not your cornershop one!).
The person behind the counter won't have a clue what you're giving them and will have to look it up in a book and call head office, but you should be fine. Not sure about fees and rates though, so if it's a large amount do shop around. Check some UK bank websites also. |

thanks, i'm only talking about 200,000 and i will be in london so i just wanted to know if they would change it at all, i thought it may be deemed as some backwater currency that no one will touch. |

In London, very easily.
Just go to any of the high street banks like Natwest. You could also try the many bureaux de change on Oxford Street.

What would be the most economically sound way of changing KRW to GBP?
Via wire transfer or by exchanging hard currency? I'm going back to Blighty this month and I have no idea what to do with with my hard-earned wedge. |

Personally, I would do a wire transfer to your UK account. The exchange rates for KRW in the UK aren't that great.

The only obvious thing is your misunderstanding of the question. I wanted to know how I can squeeze the most Sterling from the Won. I suspect wire transfer is the way to go. |

You will definately get better rates from your Korean bank than you would from a UK bank. However, you could always call and speak to someone in the foreign currency dept of your bank in the UK and ask their opinion.

For your facetious reply - scre*w you b*tch / tw@t.
A measely 200,000 and you want to milk it as much as you can and save a whopping couple of pounds...?
Oh, by the way, your post does not mention anything about getting the most money from the won it merely asks where you could exchange it - hence that being 'misunderstood!' |
