What is the best mountain to hike up in the Seoul area?

Namsan is central, there's cool stuff to do at the top, but it can get kinda crowded. If it's your first time hiking in Seoul, I'd advise going there, just to say you did. The trails are all paved and easy to manage.
Kwanaksan and Bukhansan are also pretty cool and less crowded. They're a little less developed as well, if you're looking for a more "authentic" experience. |

I hike up Bukhansan about once a month- usually Baegundae (the highest peak).
It's quite challenging, but worth it because of the view.

I used to hike up Nam han san seong when I lived there.. kinda cool; there's like a mini-Great Wall at the top. Its left over from the early 1600's and was used to defend against Manchurian invaders around that time... There's also a temple up there and generally its kinda nice.
I think you have to take the orange (?) line to Seongnam city stop, but I cant remember for sure; its been a while now. |

Namhansanseong is a great hike because you can just take a bus to the top of the mountain and then hike along the wall for a few hours. There is a town up top within the wall so when you are finished you can grab some food and take the bus back down. |

| My favourite so far is Gwanaksan. They have fresh mokoli at the top. Another one I enjoy is Guryongsan, which has a nice view. My goal is to climb all major peaks in Seoul. |

Do you remember how to get there via subway/bus? I recall you are a person of great public transit knowledge and I was thinking of going there again on my next trip to seoul. |

Go to 산성역 on line 8 in Seongnam and take the 9 bus up the hill. (I am pretty sure it is the 9, but I could be wrong. Just make sure you are going up the hill in the bus and you will be going the right direction. The 9 is the only bus that goes up to the top from Seongnam.
I took these 3 weeks ago.
With Seongnam down below.
