Hey--I've run out of new TV to watch, seen all the movies in the world, and have a fat stack of books to read. But...I want to read comic books, too.
I downloaded a few good ones, but have been out of the good old comicbook geekloop for so long, I'm quite out of ideas for fresh downloads.
Can anybody recommend some good stuff? Translated Manga, or North American stuff?
I could recommend the following, too, if anybody's looking for good quick semi-mindless reads.
I just read the 'Civil War' thing...that was pretty good. Or at least, a lot of it was. I'm pretty cynical about superhero stuff in general because there's such a dearth of quality there. But I'm into it if it's good, for sure; I just don't know what's good these days. I used to read a lot of Garth Ennis and Alan Moore, but Ennis was slipping and Moore, well...I think he's done his best work. I've read everything Frank Miller did before 2003 already. But have those guys done anything good lately? Anybody know?
Right now I'm reading 'the Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service,' which is great.
I've already read all 2000 pages of Akira, and all the Lone Wolf and Cubs as well. I don't know much about manga though so if anybody has any recommendations I'd be grateful.
By the way, a really good free comic reading program is 'CDisplay.' I read some comics online a few years ago in a PDF reader but it was terrible. This new one is great. |
