In the states now. At the university here, in the library, I see today this notice: "Please do not talk on your cell phone in the library." Written in English . . then, subtitled in . . . . . . . . . . . . . you got it . . . Korean language !
Asians in general are really obsessed with their mobile phones, don't you think? Here in the states, eveyone has a cellphone, but you just don't see them being used that much. They don't pull them out every two minutes to check for messages. They don't pull them out as a nervous reaction on an elevator. They don't stare at 'em. They don't play with them. They are phones . . . simply phones ! |

I don't know about that. It seems that on my college campus everyone was always fiddling with their phone. My friends and I used to joke that the people walking across the campus with their phones plastered to their faces probably weren't even talking to anybody, they were just too insecure to walk alone. |

They were constantly on the lookout for payhones, so they could check the messages on their beeper. I had middle school kids get beeped in the middle of class and they had the nerve to ask if they could go check the message. |
