|
|
Hello, as is required for every English teacher I will be required to get a health check and drug test within the first week of my arrival.
SMOE says they require an "HIV test and a drug test." Does this mean that they will not conduct tests that involve STD's such as herpes?
I am 99% sure I don't have an STD and I tend to be a worrier (so my friends tell me).
I do not know if it is appropriate to post on here, but I will try. I have never engaged in sex, but have received oral (I'm a guy) unprotected three times. I believe I do not have any symptoms, but as I have said before I'm kind of on the paranoid side.
Is it still possible that I contracted an STD? Does SMOE require STD tests or just HIV? If someone can PM me about this or reply onto this board, I would be very thankful. I just want a peace of mind before I get there Sad |

| Have you ever sat on a public toilet seat without a paper seat cover? If you have, I'd give up right now and get a personal check up immediately. |

Dude, if you've only had 3 hummers in your life, and no sex, I'd say you have nothing to worry about. On the other hand, tough break about your lack of action. |

I'm guessing, in other words, that this guy is telling me I have nothing to worry about? |

| Also, some say that the health-check consists of only HIV, swine flu, and drug tests. No STD's? |

I'd say, based on my experience there last year, that the bigger worry should be what happens to your health AFTER you've been in Korea for awhile.
I lived and worked in mainland China for five years and had my share health worries, but I arrived in Korea in fine health (if you don't count well-managed diabetes) and left permenantly disabled due to refusal of medical intervention by my Korean employers, and horrific medical care that was arranged by Korean "friends."
By the time I got outta there and back to my home country (U.S.) my condition was so advanced that surgery was not possible.
Yeah, be worried, but not for the reasons you mention in your original post. |

| alphakennyone, it seems I'm not allowed to send a PM to you because I've only posted a couple of times since joining. Even though my terrible experience in Korea happened almost one year ago, I'm only speaking about it now -- and I'm not willing to tell the detailed story publicly and have it become the source of discussion and possible debate. If you wish to send a PM to me, I'll offer more. Hope you understand... |

oops, haha jus tread your first sentence about not having enough posts too.
But basically, I'm wondering what kind of specific health checks they require? Only HIV or STD's as well? |

Dude, why are you so worried about this? Is there something you aren't telling us?
From your first post, it sounds like the odds that you have an STD are quite low. Very, very low. |

Like I said, I'm a bit paranoid and consider things serious even when there is a .001% chance...
So, I look at worst case scenarios...but nevermind, i think I am going to stop posting because I'm looking like some kind of perverted fool on this forum when my worries are probably nothing to worry about....i think i'm just paranoid? |

i would like to know what exactly epik tests us for.
Can we not get a list of exactly what the tests are for?
Do they include STD's. I mean after all we are paying for it..
I have asked a few times but got no answer.
I know i passed but passed tests for what? |
