yeah great week for me.
Any approximation on the cost? back molar-
Is it going to be a whole day thing- or short and to the point?
I guess I could just bring a note in korean detailing the problem- still a bit hesitant- but have no desire for a root canal down the road. |

having had two of these here I can say with almost total certainty that you are looking at a crown or, depending on the damage, a possible root canal plus crown especially if it's a molar that contains a large old filling.
Est cost around 700K Won max per crown with up to three long visits. Some dentists do it in one visit I've heard but that's the exception to the rule. |

I just had a root canal and a gold overlay (completely covered tooth.) Even without health insurance, the cost of the work they did over 4 visits (it might have been 5 - I can't remember) was pretty cheap. The most expensive thing was the gold. All together, though, it was about 400,000. |

Oh - and yes, your medical will lessen the cost - not a huge amount - but - you know |

So while we're talking about dental related issues, I'm fairly certain I have a cavity. I have a dentist's appointment next week, but how much do you think it's going to run me? |

A silver (amalgam) filling is covered by insurance, so it will cost you 3,000 won. If you want to go for the white filling that's not covered and the cost depends on the size and shape of the cavity and the dentist; probably anywhere from 100,000 to 300,000 won (I just had two large ones done and they cost 150,000). A cleaning (I think they call it a scaling here) cost me 30,000 and they didn't charge anything for x-rays or the appointments.
Oh, and they might try to tell you that they don't like to use the amalgam for adults because it's weaker than the white, but the rest of the world disagrees. |

I concur. I totally wanted amalgam and my dentist outright refused. Now all the silver fillings in my mouth are jealous of the shiny gold tooth I'm sporting. I'm worried they're all going to jump out of my mouth! Then again, the gold's supposed to be stronger and last longer -- so I guess that's something!
Regardless, dental work is a lot cheaper here than anything you'll get back home. |
