okay i've been looking to buy a new computer here in korea, but i've been having a hard time finding a english version of windows. i've never built my own computer, so i'm not really sure and wanted to ask before a shell out a bunch of cash for a pc with no os on it. now i've found an english xp home on www.compara.co.kr but it was over 200,000 won and they have the korean version of vista for less. i was wondering if i bought a computer without a os, if i could install windows myself with a dell cd for my laptop that has windows on it. and also if it would still be a legit copy so i can update it. so what i am asking is if i can install a copy of windows on more than one computer and for it to be a legit copy on both?? also the cd says to only use on a dell computer. i've looked at some of the suggested websites to build a computer in korea, but have not been able to find an english version of windows except on compara, so if anyone knows where i can build a computer and have an english version of windows installed for a decent price i would be very thankful.

Go to Yongsan station. Walk out the front door of the station and turn RIGHT.

At the end of the building (if you see E-mart you went the wrong way, turn around) you can look across the rail yard and see a large BLUE building. that is where you want to be.

Turn right, walk 100 meters to the pedway overpass and cross over the rail yard to the blue building.

You will enter on the 3rd floor. You will see the Microsoft dealer ahead and to your right. WinXP-home-oem version (new install) is about 100k won.

Remember where he is in case the computer builder doesn't have English windoze.

Turn left and walk to the central stairs.

Go up a floor or down a floor and find your best deal. Prices are often marked in man won so if you see a computer listed for 50, that would be 50 man won (50 * 10,000) or 500,000 won.

Price shop till you find what you are looking for. It will be custom built, while you wait (1 hour without windows and 2 hours if they install windows for you).

DON'T BE RUSHED INTO ANYTHING. Take your time and read the signs or better yet, take someone who can read Korean (translation is not required - tech terms are the same in both languages but things will be written in Korean script instead of the English alphabet).

Low end, entry level machines run about 300k. Top end machines are about 1 million. Most dealers speak Computer Englishee and a few actually can speak English.

thanks ttompatz, but i should have mentioned that i live in busan. so yongsan is too far. if you know of anyplace like yongsan in busan that i don't know about that would be great. but from what i've read and heard, the best bet for me is to buy a computer online.
