I would like to oranize a business here in Incheon. It wouldn't be anything major just a hangout spot. A place (other than goose goose) for us foreign nationals (not foriegners haha) to hang out. It would have a kitchen and bar with good music and clean air. Deffinitely not in the basement. Right now, startup capital is the problem. I am sure that there are others out there like me. If you would like to help organizing something like this let me know. Maybe we could get it started together. |

Are you actually thinking of starting it as a business?
Have you ever started a business in Korea before? Are you legally able to? |

Not sure if this will help, but it seems there are like-minded people out there. |

I would say that opening a business that caters to foreigners has
about a 10% chance of lasting the first year. Do you remember
that other bar that challenged the Goose? The one that was below
it? It died a horrible death. One of the reasons for that bar's demise
was that there was nothing new. Same old crap with a few hockey
jerseys on the wall. But, I would say the biggest reason that bar went
nose-in was there was a lack of young, available Korean women.
So you REALLY NEED things that appeal to young Korean women.
(kimchi, K-Pop etc.)
Rule 1
Men go where the women are.
One thing that Incheon really needs, for koreans and whities alike, is
a decent microbrewery. Get one of those going and the sky is the
limit.
Rule 2
Men go where the good beer is.
I would say to open a decent place that impresses people you would be
looking at 300,000,000 to 500,000,000 in an initial capital outlay.
Couple this with a fresh idea like a European interior, soft lighting,
stucco etc. To open a microbrewery you would need the amount
above plus probably, at least another 500,000,000 for the gear.
Rule 3
It takes money to make money
Anyway, I wish you luck. But like I said, I wouldn't touch it with
a 3.3 meter pole. |
