Any rumors on the line up for the Pentaport this year? Or is it even going ahead? The website says "Pentaport 2007 Coming Soon."

It seems like a sure thing that it's happening. I saw posters up for Pentaport 2007 in Shinchon last week.

As for who's playing, your best bet is to look to the Fuji Rock festival. It's takes place in Japan over the same three days, and last year I think most of the big, international acts came straight from their lineup.

Fuji lineup (so far): http://www.smash-uk.com/frf07/lineup.html

yeah last year pentaport piggybacked some of the acts from fuji's lineup...

Unfortunately, I don't think any of fuji's acts are much marketable in Korea. The lineup for Fuji is amazing tho so I think I'm gonna fly over for it. However, seeing Iggy, The Cure, Ratatat, Yo la Tengo and such in Korea would be rad...but it ain't gonna happen. Pentaport headlined by PSY!!! and....that other crappy band....and......epik high! no thanks.

Last Year: Despite the rain, and some pretty terrible Korean hair metal acts and, it was fun. It was a generally well organized festival except for the fact that the yeah yeah yeah's were put on at some ridiculously early start time (11 am or something). Two problems: a few more big name foreign acts were needed to fill out the lineup. There are much much better Korean acts out there than the ones they chose.

That must mean that it's not worth going to right?

Despite the rain, I had a good time last year.. I'll be going again.. Some of the Korean bands I watched weren't half bad.. many were terrible of course, but there is some sign of hope out there!

Chemical Brothers?

Coldplay?

I still have the pair of shoes that got ruined last year so I can wear them again. This year I'm gonna be more prepared for the hazardous weather...and praying to the sun gods.

looks like coldplay alright.

as for footwear....wellies are the only way to go. a big pair of green farmer-y ones. bring a permanent marker and get people to sign them. instant memento. they're also handy for carrying cans of beer in Smile

And what about this site makes us think it's reliable?

It's got Coldplay and Radiohead videos up there, but who put them up? Someone from the festival or just some hopeful fan?
