Hi, I just moved to Gangnam from Daegu, and now have to start a new social net from scratch. Specifically I'm in Daechi-dong.

I'm a pretty nice guy...I'm funny, I'm techie, I have had (and continue to have) unusual life experiences that make for good stories. If anyone wants to see about folding me into their group, cool.

Or if you're also new and want to make some friends, also cool.

PM me either way. You all know how it is to go somewhere new and know know anyone. I'm currently the only foreigner at my school, and so it would be really cool to meet some folks.

And, for reading this far, I'll reward you with my favorite haiku:

Writing a haiku
In seventeen syllables
Is very diffic-

Cheers,
--Tony

Your haiku made me laugh out loud. Like the way you think. Sorry, I am not in Korea until late summer/early autumn...would have definitely looked you up otherwise.

Well look me up when you're in-country. Seriously. Don't forget.

Glad you liked the haiku.

If you're into haiku, there is a website that deals solely in presidential haiku. That's right, haiku about various presidents. Here are some of my favorites:

John Adams
You did not shake hands
Instead you would chose to bow
Uppity b@stard

Warren G. Harding
Conceived a daughter
On my Senate office desk
Please don't tell my wife

George W. Bush
"Nuk-u-lar weapons"
Missing from dictionaries
Just like from Iraq

George W. Bush
Saddam won't disarm
We must take Iraq by force.
We did! (WHAT NOW, D1CK?)

George W. Bush
Where is my pillow?
Cheney says time for my nap
Dream a Lone Star dream

Ronald Reagan
Russians love Satan
Ketchup is a vegetable
Trees are poisonous

Bill Clinton
His own TV show?
Acts better than Travolta
Ought to be a hit

Richard Nixon
After long exile
Died a statesman, but then
Got Oliver Stoned

Richard Nixon
Pour me a Rob-Roy
And turn off the tape machine
I hereby resign

And for some dark humor:
John F. Kennedy
Let's put the top down.
No chance of rain in Dallas.
Goodbye, Camelot.

That's right, everyone likes to beat on Bushee. I wrote the Warren G. Harding one, got one rib-kick in on Bush (the second Bush haiku), and edited a couple others.

My favorite of all of them is the one on Reagan, because he actually said the thing about trees & ketchup. "Russians love Satan" is an extrapolation of lots of things he said about the USSR. Okay, I think by now, everyone who isn't a poli-sci grad is bored stiff by now, so I'm going to go.

Will def look you up. Can't wait to be there. (Coming to the end of a 7 year stretch in Tokyo, so not far to travel.)

I'm going to compose a couple in honor of that other thread:

Dreaming of Western Breakfast
Into Seoul are packed
Ten thousand restaurants, but
Where's the damn IHOP

Lamenting Being Unable to Tell When They're Interested
Lots of eye contact
Smiles, kind words, she's flirting?
Nope, she's Korean.

Anyone else?

From another board:

I hate all Haikus
All those who write them should die
This is one, too. S***!
