So, I'm leaving pretty soon and the friend who said she'd take him says it's not working out for her.
His name is Nelly (don't ask how he got that name). He's a year old. Neutered. Affectionate. Likes to eat a lot. He'll have a difficult time adjusting but in about a week, he'll be your best friend.
Get this: I trained him to use the toilet. Serious. Check out the pictures.

I really love this cat and he needs a good home. I'm near Seoul. |

Between 6 weeks and 2 months. A little inconvenient but TOTALLY worth it not to have to spend money on litter or have him track litter around the apartment. |

If you're interested in training, check out this website:
http://www.karawynn.net/mishacat/toilet.html
First you need to move the litterbox to the bathroom. Then you raise it little by little using magazines or newspapers (a little difficult to keep clean and dry in a Korean bathroom, mind you). When it's at the same height as the toilet, move the box to the toilet. The cat gets used to jumping up to use the potty.
Then you move to the metal mixing bowl of litter (instead of a litterbox) that you place under the toilet seat but in the toilet bowl itself. You may have to do some measuring to make sure the bowl is the right size. I got lucky and found one for 1000won.
There are some supplies that are a little difficult to come by. No roasting pans the correct size, for example. What I did was I took a cheap plastic bowl like the ones at the jjimjilbang and cut a whole in the bottom with a knife. I still added a little litter so he knew what it was for. When he was cool with that, I cut the hole bigger and took away the litter all together. That lasted about 2 days and then he was homefree.
Really, the only inconvenient part was when I had to move the litterbox, the metal bowl and the bowl with the hole off the toilet so I could use it but it only lasted about 2 or 3 weeks - and I was being lazy about the training. It was totally worth the inconvenience. |

Are you allowed to keep pets in Korean apartments? If so, I'm interested in taking him. I arrive this Saturday. |

as a fellow pet owner, i can tell you that 99.99999% of apartments allow pets in korea.
so you shouldn't have a problem ... and it's cool to have a cat that can poop in the toilet. i've decided i'll teach my own cat to do it this summer when i'm on vacation! |
