				| I thought I read on this board that employers were obliged to pay return airfare but my hogwan is refusing to pay for my airfare back on the grounds that I was already in Korea when they employed me. I paid my own airfare here and found a job afterwards.
Does anybody know what the legal position on this is?

I'm also going to e-mail EFL law and see what they know about this but I don't know their e-mail address.

				| What does your contract say?
You can reach EFL Law at: administration@ efl-law.com.

				| My contract says that if I was resident in Korea at the time of my contract they will not reimburse airfare.
When I queried that (before starting) my manager told me that this did not apply as I was not resident as such I was here on a tourist visa and that was just to prevent teachers who had their airfare already paid for by one school claiming for airfare again from a second school.

This manager left a few months ago and the new manager claims that this exempts the school from having to pay my airfare.

Oh and thanks for the e-mail address!

				| Oh, manager switching! You've been nerfed. Schools are not 100% required by any law to pay your airfare, unless it's written into the contract. Gotta discuss your contract with EFL, as previously mentioned. | |

				| If the school paid for your VISA run to Japan that is usually considered the equivalent of return fare home...
anyhow paid airfare is custom not law.

Now I'm confused again (ok I know it doesn't take much)......can anyone clarify?
