For those who've taken pets back to the USA from Korea (not the other way around)...
I've finally found a kennel in Korea that's big enough for Osito, but it doesn't have vents in the back. The company I'm buying from says not to worry, that they've used it for 7 years without a problem.
However, United.com says that for international flights, kennels must have vents on all 4 sides.
So, those who've gone back to the US (or perhaps Canada), did your kennel have vents on all 4 sides or just 3 (door & sides)? |

Yes, all 4. I wouldn't want to risk having that kind of disaster on a big travel day. It would be awful to have the airline refuse your kennel when you get there. Most of hte airlines will rent you one (if you don't think you will ever use it again). We ordered ours from our vet. He had a huge catalog of them in all sizes and varities. It was abit more costly, but we got one bigger than what our dog actually needs so she would have more room. |

Mine also had ventilation on all four sides. It was a Vari Kennel, which i got at a random pet store in Daejeon (they had all sizes imaginable there). Definitely go for four sides, hopefully you'll be able to find a suitable one on any "pet street" no matter where you live. If not, it's best to not take chances and order one. |

Thanks for the input.
If my dog weren't so flippin' big, this wouldn't be an issue, but I've searched online and this is the only place in Korea that had one big enough for him (40" deep).
My last resort is to have my dad go to Petco and buy the one I want & ship it to me, but that's gonna cost an arm and a leg.

Which Vari? The two-toned one or plain beige?
The one this company has is the Deluxe vari... I can't find any images of the back to see if there're vents.

I have a carrier that is a large size (I think). It was big enough for my two small dogs to travel together, but I'm not sure it's 40". Let me take a look at the measurements tonight. If it's big enough, you could have it. Unfortunately, one of my dogs died last month, so I don't need it anymore. |

Mine was a solid color.
I'm fairly certain that all Vari Kennels meet airline regulations, so the Deluxe would probably have the proper ventilation. But hopefully you'll be able to take the above poster's kennel and not worry about it! |

That's what my dad said.
As for being airline approved, yeah, all the Petmate ones are. But US domestic restrictions are different from international.
Anyway, I ordered one from this company here in Korea. *fingers crossed* |
