This is a letter of "support" written to Dr. Laura after she said that she couldn't condone homosexuality under any circumstances, due to it being an abomination under Leviticus (sic).
Hilarious!

I hate it when celebrities feel like they can lecture us on right and wrong in regards to morality. We don't need a lesson in religion from her or anyone else. If I want to know what God "supposedly" thinks I'll go to church or pray. I love the guy who wrote that letter. He's my new personal hero |

Ah yes! A post from the Humanists of Utah, got tired of sniping at the Mormons and took on the Jews.
Hey fella if you want to smite your neighbor go ahead. He will likely smite you back - harder, Hey! God and I both love the smell of a good Barbeque, even the one in hell.
If you want to sell you daughter into slavery, go ahead. Just don't get caught.
You want to be gay, go ahead. Just stey away from me and mine or you might not like the results. |

From an episode of West Wing-Season 2
President Josiah Bartlet: Good. I like your show. I like how you call homosexuality an abomination.
Dr. Jenna Jacobs: I don't say homosexuality is an abomination, Mr. President. The Bible does.
President Josiah Bartlet: Yes it does. Leviticus.
Dr. Jenna Jacobs: 18:22.
President Josiah Bartlet: Chapter and verse. I wanted to ask you a couple of questions while I have you here. I'm interested in selling my youngest daughter into slavery as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. She's a Georgetown sophomore, speaks fluent Italian, always cleared the table when it was her turn. What would a good price for her be? While thinking about that, can I ask another? My Chief of Staff Leo McGarry insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly says he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself or is it okay to call the police? Here's one that's really important because we've got a lot of sports fans in this town: touching the skin of a dead pig makes one unclean. Leviticus 11:7. If they promise to wear gloves, can the Washington Redskins still play football? Can Notre Dame? Can West Point? Does the whole town really have to be together to stone my brother John for planting different crops side by side? Can I burn my mother in a small family gathering for wearing garments made from two different threads? Think about those questions, would you? One last thing: while you may be mistaking this for your monthly meeting of the Ignorant Tight-Ass Club, in this building, when the President stands, nobody sits.

LT,
I liked that episode as well. I have season 1-4 on DVD and am planning on buying 5-7 eventually. Most of the topics discussed on that show mirrored real life events. I really miss WW. |

From Wikipedia:
Quote: |
On, May 10, 2000, The Canadian Broadcast Standards Council (CBSC) ruled that Schlessinger's "consistent characterization of the sexual behavior of gays and lesbians as 'abnormal,' 'aberrant,' 'deviant,' 'disordered,' 'dysfunctional' and 'an error' constituted abusive discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and as such, were in violation of the human rights provision of its Code of Ethics. The CBSC found similar fault with her generalized statements that pedophilia is more prevalent among members of the gay community.
In response to her comments about homosexuality, a rhetorical and sarcastic "letter to Dr. Laura" was circulated circa 2000 on the Internet that attempted to illustrate the absurdity of her strict construction of the Bible in modern times, especially with regard to homosexuality.[14] This letter was the inspiration for the character Jenna Jacobs in a Season 2 episode of The West Wing called "The Midterms." In that episode, President Bartlet criticizes Jacobs for using the Bible to call homosexuality "evil."[15] |

I knew that the character was based somewhat on her, but I had never heard about the letter. Interesting stuff.... |

She has so many people angry that she must be doing something right. The truth hurts.

i see your contrarianism extends to spelling, too.
seriously though, what is it with these hardcore religious types? surely if you believe in an omnipresent, omnipotent, omni..etc etc god, then you probably ought to leave judgment and punishment of transgressors to him, instead of blowing up abortion clinics, stoning adulterers or protesting at people's funerals. |
