|

Hi all-
I know this question has been beaten to death but I could not find an answer using the search engine.
I was under the impression that I would be paying taxes in Korea while I'm here and exempt from paying taxes in America. Today I was told that I can file to be exempt from paying taxes in Korea too? Is this correct? Is anyone else doing this? Does this mean I will have to pay taxes in America if I file to be exempt in Korea? I thought there was no such thing as living tax free! Any advice would be helpful... tax stuff is always such a pain in the a$$ to me.
Thanks- |

Yeah, your first year (or maybe two) you can be tax free in Korea. For US taxes, you ahve to pay on anything you make over $70 or 80,000 (can't remembre exactly) overseas in a year. ANd you have to be out of the country for 330 days (approximately). So, yes you can live overseas tax free. For a year. Just don't spend too much time in the states. |

You can't do both. I'm too lazy right now to go into the whole explanation. |
