Personally, I like the so-called man purses many Korean guys carry. it sure beats those big, ugly stupid backpacks many foreigners carry. I always ask them if they are taking a trip with those big ol' things. It also beats carrying around your things in an old shopping bag like some weird guy did at my last school. Rolling Eyes

Completely agree. One of my canadian friends carries a big backpack everywhere complete with a first aid kit. Does he expect to be attacked by a bear? Strange behavior. I use a messenger bag, big enough to carry an small umbrella if its raining, book for subway, pen, camera etc.

Those Korean man purses just scream gayhomogfag when I see them.. But the big foreigner backpacks aren't much better. Why the hell do you need one of those to hang out downtown or in Starbucks?? I've seen white guys with those things in freakin Homeplus!!! Why do these white guys need to look like they're on a damn cross-country trek at any given time???

I am currently considering purchasing one of these 'man-bags' or 'murses' or 'european leather carry-all' or whatever you want to call it, but the jury is still out. Polling female friends on their opinions, and its pretty much split at this point.

I was in a bar in Hongdae one night, and I kid you not, these big white girls came in there with even bigger backpacks. You should have seen the looks on the Korean bartenders faces. It was classic. I couldn't help but stare along with them. Why did they need to take the house with them to the bar??? Rolling Eyes Laughing Shocked

Ah, so good to finally see the benefits of educating others to be tolerant.

I've been considering purchasing a manbag. I really do not know where to find them. I'm in the US now, so should I try to get one here or would there be better options in Seoul?

You might like to read this.....

Is homophobia associated with homosexual arousal?

Adams HE, Wright LW Jr, Lohr BA.

Department of Psychology, University of Georgia, Athens 30602-3013, USA.

The authors investigated the role of homosexual arousal in exclusively heterosexual men who admitted negative affect toward homosexual individuals. Participants consisted of a group of homophobic men (n = 35) and a group of nonhomophobic men (n = 29); they were assigned to groups on the basis of their scores on the Index of Homophobia (W. W. Hudson & W. A. Ricketts, 1980). The men were exposed to sexually explicit erotic stimuli consisting of heterosexual, male homosexual, and lesbian videotapes, and changes in penile circumference were monitored. They also completed an Aggression Questionnaire (A. H. Buss & M. Perry, 1992). Both groups exhibited increases in penile circumference to the heterosexual and female homosexual videos. Only the homophobic men showed an increase in penile erection to male homosexual stimuli. The groups did not differ in aggression. Homophobia is apparently associated with homosexual arousal that the homophobic individual is either unaware of or denies.

I am guessing you get that uncomfortable feeling when you see a Korean guy in a pink cardigan?

Trust me, they are gay. Makes me want to slap the mascara off of some these guys sometimes I swear. Wait until you hear these manly specimens that represent the Korean Alpha Male talk, or punch their girlfriend incessantly on the subway so that everyone within hearing distance can hear her say "Ah Appah!" every two seconds.

And people wonder why Korea, with its 5000 years of history, could never invent anything when adults share the same mental and emotional characteristics of 5 year-old chimpanzees for the most part. Oh, sparkling!
