Philippines vote death toll hits 100
MANILA: Philippines police said on Wednesday the death toll in vote-related violence ahead of next week뭩 mid-term election hit 100 after two more people were murdered.
Elections in the Philippines are often marred by violence as rival groups use private militias to intimidate voters and political opponents, and the army has deployed in some areas to try to curb the bloodshed.
The latest deaths occurred in the northern province of Nueva Ecija, which has been placed under special military control by the elections commission. Police said Alex de Guzman, 45, a village councillor, was shot repeatedly on Tuesday as he was riding his motorcycle in Gapan City. In another incident Nestor Gonzales, 44, the driver of a mayoral candidate in Dulong Bayan town, was shot in the leg and bled to death.
According to data from the national police, 53 candidates and 47 others have been killed since campaigning began in January in the run-up to the May 14 election. Voters will elect 12 senators, the entire 230-seat House of Representatives and thousands of local officials from town councils to mayors and provincial governors.

Well, I would consider going to the Phillipines, the people are generally very friendly and kind. The women (not the se* workers people) often have a reputation of making good wives. A friend of mine had a step mom from the Phillipines. Some teachers here have wives from there.
It is supposed to be a beautiful country. Those women in the picture do not really like so attractive, but one or two are passable.
As far as the violence, this is small scale stuff when you consider the population of the country. I think the population is about pretty large.
I forget the number and much of the fighting is between various political groups and their thugs who run old Tammany Hall style politics and there is that terrible Gordon family that descends from a certain W. W. Gordon who was an American. The family chose to become Phillipinos. If you live in their area of control, you can't work if you are not registered to vote, and you must vote for a Gordon. That is a big problem in the Phillipines. |

A friend of mine finds girls from the Phillipines rather attractive. To each his own, but I prefer Koreans when it comes to appearance, but I think there is a lot to say about the personality of the girls from the Phillipines.
There are attractive girsl from the Phillipines, but I find on the surface Koreans are far more attractive, but not as modest. The people from the Phillipines are generally down-to-Earth. It is a shame the country is run by different political thugs to the detriment of the population. |
