eewwww!
when i left school this afternoon i noticed that all the puddles had yellow scum on them. initially i thought it might have been chalk, or some other random crap from nearby. but after leaving the subway station by my house and seeing more yellow scummy puddles, i realized it was all the yellow dust residue being washed away.
rather disturbing to see just how much crap i'd been breathing in the past few days...

I think the scum is pollen because I have seen the same thing where I am from in Canada, and there isn't any yellow dust there.

i like the idea of it being pollen, especially since i don't have any allergies. near my school i could see it being pollen, there are lots of trees and flowers around, but near my place it's a concrete wasteland. a few flower boxes here and there, but certainly not enough to fill up the puddles.
pollen, pollen, yeah pollen.

I couldn't keep my windows open today - within 10 minutes everything would be coated with dust. And I'm on the 8th floor. It was pretty gross.

There is tons of pollen in all of the plants on all of the mountains that surround wherever it is that you are living. There doesn't need to be plants in your immediate area. Pollen is light. It floats/blows really far.

It's in its nature to spread.

Besides, wouldn't the dust/dirt sink like rocks do? That's my theory anyway.

I think the dust is more brown, at least the dust I have seen so far it, but there was a much more sulphur like substance floating on the puddles out the back of my school today as well. Pollen was the only explanation we could come up with as well.

Do Korean trees not have pollen? The Yellow Dust has been SLIGHTLY higher the past few days (except for during downpours,) but a lot of this yellow crap has to be local. Have you seen the trees flowering?

My poor turtles were swimming in it when I got home. I guess it is pollen but there was another thread about yellow dust today. I dunno since it rained here in Jeonju....

I did see plenty of yellow puddles and dust all over my turtle tank

Actually its probably yellow dust blown over from China and Mongolia. It happens during the spring season.

I've also had Koreans tell me it's pine tree pollen. I never remember seeing so much of it, covering everything. I can only hope that's true.
