|
|
Hello.
Where's the cheapest place in Seoul to buy foreign beer and liquor? I don't have a costco membership BTW.
Also, do they sell 40ozs in Korea? (besides the base)
oh and this one is kinda off the topic but, does anybody know of any stores that sell Newport cigarretes? (besides base)
Thanks in advance |

Lotte Mart or E-Mart have standard prices that are cheaper than the corner stores (like Family Mart).
Absolute vodka: About 27,000
Bacardi 151 is a good deal if you like rum. It's the same price as 80 proof rum, so you get more drunkness out of the bottle. |

| Underground market in Namdaemun. Bacon and American candy too. All black market, all tax/tariff free. |

Cheapest I've found my Wild Turkey. And I've seen bottles there for half the price that I see them elsewhere but that's typically for top shelf liquor. Never priced the bacon or anything else. Something about bacon hanging out unrefridgrated seems sketchy. |

Thank you! This was more in the lines of what I was looking for. I am familar with e-mart/lotte mart/gs mart etc. I was looking for places that may offer some cheaper prices.
I'll check it out. |

The black market outside of exit 8 by Shincon Stn, or even cheaper (with a wider selection - great variety of American hams and all) go down to Songtan.
Songtan is quite possibly the most awesome place in Korea - if you don't know why, then don't even ask - just go. |

OP- cheap booze or low-cost booze?
Cheap stuff? There's some Chinese stuff, in many stores, in little green bottles that'll peel the paint off your apartment walls. Getcha good and ripped. |

Hmm...I used to go to Namdaemun every once in a while, but the last time I was there (several months ago) prices were about 50% higher than before. I recall being able to buy a liter of Jim Beam for 19,000 won or so in years past, but the last time I went they had been marked up to around 27,000 won.
So, what are prices like these days? |

| Try E-Mart or Grand Mart or another price club or outlet. I just bought Tiger Beer at Grand Mart and it cost 1,600 per can or 2,200 a bottle. |

It seems like, for lower priced alcohol - Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, Smirnoff - it's only 10,000 or 15,000 off. Once you start getting up into the 60,000+ prices in the local ecomony, then you can get quite a deal. I bought a bottle of a horrible, horrible Chinese liquor that cost me 40,000 but I have seen at stores going for 70,000. |

Why
I want to know what I will find there and what I should be looking for.
