what is standard there? I read in one book that U.S. style plugs were becomeing strandard, but there are still some 220v plugs around. And what prongs are used? What do i need to buy so my N.A. laptop will work there?

No, 110 is not standard anywhere. A few hotels have it, but only the top end ones. Everything is on 220v here and the plugs have 2 round pins.

For your laptop, look on the power cord or on the btotom of the machine and see if it says 110/220. If it only says 110 then you will need to buy a heavy duty power converter as well as an adapter. Radio Shack has these in the states for order. If it says 110/220 then you jsut need the adapter so that the pins are right.

US voltage is the non-standard. Most of the rest of the world uses 220/240. There are different outlets and plugs, but the most common are two round pins, often with side earth connectors.

Your laptop can probably run on 110 or 220 and a simple adaptor is all you will need.
