I'm considering taking a public school position in Choong Chung Buk Do to commence in November. I have a few years of teaching experience in Seoul and am familiar with the standard contractual stuff. I'd like some everyday practical information regarding Choon Chung Buk Do. Nothing in particular, just whatever experiences and/or activities you guys might be able to share. Thanks.

Don't yet know at what school I'll be teaching. Position doesn't start until November so the hiring process is still in its infancy. Going through ESL Planet as they seem to have a good reputation. Are there several areas in Choong Chung Buk? I'm really not familiar with it. I appreciate your reply.

Go to 'English Education', 'Information', and 'Map of Chungcheongbukdo' for a really basic map of CCBD, broken up into guns (counties).

CCBD is a good place to work because it is well-connected. You can easily go to Seoul on the weekend and can quite easily go to other places around the peninsula.

We (EPIKers) were told by the provincial education office that the province lacks the resources of other provinces. The level of English ability here is certainly very low compared to Seoul.

If you have any choice, I would advise you to choose a place close to Cheongju, the main city here.

Thanks for the info. shantaram.
However my plans have changed though as I just found out that I was accepted into graduate school for the 2007 fall semester. Figure I'll get the masters degree and head back to Korea and land a plush university gig. The days of hagwon and public school are absolutely over for me. Time to step it up a notch. I still appreciate your input though.
