See that big white thing with two doors in your apartment Spliff.

The one you keep your undies in the top section and your t-shirts in the bottom.

It's called a refrigerator/freezer you could get ice from it if you wanted rather than just cold underwear.

Not sure where others get in...but here in Incheon I buy it it stores. Not that hard to get really. All of the GS 25 stores in the area sell as well as some non-chains.

Umm...what's an air cooler?

Is that like a fan? AC? Beverage cooler with built-in fan?

I don't really know but it sounds pretty retarded to me. Why did the OP need one, did the AC not work?

I think a friend of mine made one. He took a 7-11 styrofoam cooler. Taped the top to the coller, leaving a small rectangular hole to pour the ice in. He then cut a hole in the side of the cooler where he attached a boxfan.

The idea being, he dumped Ice into the styrofoam container, turned the boxfan on and the air would go into the cooler, circulate over the ice and then through the box fan so its like a ghetto AC.

an air cooler is a same principal as an air conditioner. however it uses the ice to cool the air rather than pouring toxic crap into the atmosphere (which air conditioners do).

all you need to do is keep some ice cube trays on rotation and it will keep you cool all summer.

yo spliff, i've noticed you're posting a lot lately. bored are we? how's about using your powers for good and not for evil! Smile

If you are talking about the refrigerant like the brand name Freon then the newer refrigerants don't cause the ozone layer damage that the older ones did. The refrigerant is only spewed into the air when it leaks out. Usually when a refrigerator or air conditioner fails the refrigerant remains in the system. The refrigerant does not usually leak out until parts are removed or the appliance sits in the dump for a long time. In the US you must now remove the refrigerant with a special machine before taking the system apart.

The refrigerant in the air conditioner is the same or very similar to the refrigerant in the refrigerator. If properly recycled the refrigerant in the refrigerator or air conditioner can itself be recycled.

Making ice in your refrigerator is an extremely inefficient way to cool your apartment. Any heat you remove from the water to make ice just comes out the back of your refrigerator and into your apartment. It might be ok for getting a cool breeze pointed at your face but any more than that and you are just burning to much fossil fuel to make electricity.

Also, your refrigerator will run more efficiently in an air conditioned apartment.

Eating ice or putting cold packs on your body is a much more efficient use of the cooling ability of your refrigerator.
