I can't get the Nvidia GeForce driver to install on my old hdd. It's fine on the new sata drive that the new computer was built with, but I want to use my old ide drive as the master, because it has a legitimate English copy of XP and all of my saved files. It gets to the point of installation and then freezes. Can anyone help with this? |

1: Did you make sure that your windows xp has all the new updates?
2: You can download the newest drivers from
www.nvidia.com
perhaps yours has a version problem. |

Be sure to uninstall your old drivers using "remove programs" and also go into your "device manager" and right click your display adapter and click uninstall. Then restart and try loading your new drivers. |

On the topic of changing drivers, here is my standard method for changing drivers:
1. uninstall old drivers using either add/ remove programs or the driver uninstaller.
2. reboot into safe mode.
3. run driver cleaner prohttp://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745 and select ALL nvidia/ ati components as required.
4. reboot into normal windows.
5. install new drivers and reboot as required by driver installation
Just as a long shot, what mobo and vid card do you have? I had specific issues installing nvidia drivers on an AsRock Dual sataII...
Additionally, if you could mention which driver version you are having issues with, it may also be helpful. |

I appreciate all of the helpful advice. A fresh install of XP on my old drive ended up being the only thing that worked for me. Thanks again for those who responded! |
