i love teaching, but i loathe the nature of the hagwon business. i applied to graduate school for the fall, when my contract ends. my boyfriend will remain in korea for a bit (he won't attend school until 08, doesn't make sense to go back to the states, look for a job, and leave).
i am not looking forward to the separation and i'm thinking about deferring school for a year, staying in korea.
truthfully - i haven't had a blast here and i blame the job for most of my discontent. if i stay and put off school, i want to make it worthwhile. (read: i want to work less hours, be treated respectfully, make more money...)
can anyone recommend (or is anyone aware of) a public school opening or a trusted recruiter who can assist me? |

| Where do you want to work? I'm down in Pusan, where one can easily have a great social life. Bars, beaches, mountains, good food (Turkish restaunant and American-Chinese in my area). I know of a few job opening up in this area. PM for more details. Not a recruiter. |

A public school typically has more hours than a hakwon. Even though you likely won't be teaching all those hours, you will still be expected to stay there from 9-5.
As for treated respectfully, you may have to enforce that on your own. Public schools DO tend to be better in this regard, but some are pretty bad as well.
As for making more money...that depends. If you have qualifications, experience and are willing to work in a rural area and do some overtime, then yes you can make plenty of money.
In regards to your question, I went through NetKorea (I can provide the contact info on request) , and have no complaints. |

has anyone secured a decent 6 month contract?
perhaps 6 month contracts are more prevalent outside of seoul?
i'd prefer to stay and work in seoul, but i am willing to work in the outskirts. |
