That's true. 소년(少年) means either a boy or a youth while 소녀(少女) only means a girl. Then, I guess the wiki info's suggesting that 어린이날's former name was 소년(少年)의 날. I never heard about that.

This coincides with the Korean sources I have come across. It was originally May 1st. In Japan, they have Boy's Day (May 5th) and Girl's Day (March 3rd) separately. |
