I just want to invite my many friends on the board to come visit me in Busan in September when I begin work For EPIK again - unless I take a Women's College Job for less pay... I'll be riding around on my bike with some K-friends I made in Jeju when they were on a bike tour. I hope to see you all on the road looking happy and not drunk and passed out in the subway looking sick.
I think you should all plan a get together in Busan in early September just so I can go and give a speech the program will be as follows:
Quote: |
SPEECH . . . . BY TOAD.
(There will be other speeches by TOAD during the evening.)
ADDRESS . . . BY TOAD
SYNOPSIS--Our Prison System--the Waterways of Old England-- Horse-dealing, and how to deal--Property, its rights and its duties-- Back to the Land--A Typical English Squire.
SONG . . . . BY TOAD. (Composed by himself.) OTHER COMPOSITIONS . BY TOAD
will be sung in the course of the evening by the . . . COMPOSER.
The idea please(S) (me) mightily, |
and I know the many Daves Ladies here who are constantly sending me PMs will want to come and host me in a good club. Right so you have to all give me a heads up on the current vibe there - and clue me in on your favorite hikin spots / bike loops (and I mean loops as in 50-100 miles not 8 mile fat tire cruiser trips)
Also, it would be well if you informed all the criminals to remove themselves to Seoul or Daegu as a Noble English Lord and Knight Errant I do not hesitate to stop evil doers - unless of course they are armed and out number me 5 to one in which case I usually enlist a Ajuma who looks cranky to scold any fruit stand extortionist I might run into. Here in Taiwan I boldly correct ten year olds when they quarrel...
Really though I felt very safe everywhere I went in Seoul, but I remember reading on this board (therefore itr is true) that there were Russian mob guys in Busan... very scary... Then again apparently there are piles of mob guys all over Taiwan who are irreversibly entangled with the Government... However, I have never seen or had any trouble with these fellows although apparently they try to keep a low profile... But I have yet to Gamble or take advantage of the mmmmm less reputable live entertainments here - nor will I - so maybe I just avoid them by my higher social circles.
Anyway, I just thought I'd post the good news... Of course I could be slain by a truck full of Ghost Money before that or die falling hiking the highest Mountain in SE Asia here in Formosa - in which case Dave himself would probably put a sticky up lamenting so you'd know anyhow. Right, hope to see you all soon- start planning the September daves party now. |

Yeah, Toad, it's true. You're a strange cat. Good on ya! I wish there were more people like you.
Don't worry about them pesky Russhins. They might try to get high from licking you, but no chance they'd mess with a knight errant. They know there's no money in it. |

Right right- no no I'm fine really... well ok this farm town is kinda a bore and I did destroy a wheel yesterday- hmmm wheels just don't last after the thousandth thousandth time however- I guess I can come up to Seoul to visit you guys too, so don't get discouraged. Also, I am glad to hear the Rus are not a big deal. I hope all the US Army is behaving well too. Last time I flew to Korea mainland from Jeju- a very kind and corn fed Army Captain showed me around Itaewon and gave me all her contacts... but being on Jeju I did not see her again. However, ideally this time in Busan I can move up the ranks and try to get a way hot Air Force Lieutenant Colonel. It's true I did get my mind warped by that terrible Hollywood movie Top Gun... But I am glad to hear you two are hale and enlightening the young minds still. |

Toad, you were still riding around Jeju on that same wheel set from 1985 last year. Dont tell me that's the same one you busted! Hehe I admire you for getting full-use out of your components, though.
If you need a new wheel or two and can't get em out in the boonies, try this site, "www.ebay.com"
I bet they the Taiwanese government wont even charge you an additional 20% the way they do here in Korea.
Seriously, Isnt the riding scene good in Taiwan? I see they have actual races for arrogant, self-infatuated people like me, on a 'taiwanrace' bike website. Did you get to do that tour of the east coast last month?
Dont you like getting photos with those Taiwanese women?
Dude, so you're going back to Korea... I'm outta here in October, but maybe I'll see you out on the road before I leave once and for all. |

1985? I was not even born yet then ah well almost not... The wheel I busted in Jeju was mmm about a year old... I got a new one - then I crashed and broke that one in Central America, then I bought a 800 dollar set of campag Euros stupid bladed wheels (actually worth more like a thousand the shop guy claimed he sold them cheaper than in the USA as he had no import Tax on them I was like sure sure- but I later checked online and he was truthful)- I have had those since October - then I crashed a bunch of times here - and it broke Friday

Euros wheel ...
- Actually though I think it was all the miles I put in it - I need all the Dave's fans here to understand I am da Bike 'ero of all Asirr - well maybe ok I'd get out sprinted if I went to Asia, Japan if I tried to Kerin race- but those Tokyo pro race studs ar all on Steroids, Crack, and anything else that will win them their bets.
Ummm but seriously I should go to the city today with my wheel and try to ether replace it/ or buy a new one. Mmmm but yeah Busan should be great- Taiwan drivers are perhaps worse then me- sure sure there are plenty of Taiwan guys to ride with but I am too isolated in the country here, and I think Busan will be da bomb plus I miss Kim Chee and Taiwan people are not as "wacky look at the James Bond man" as Koreans so I keep thinking I am not as c00l here. However if you or anybody else wants a Taiwan job I can hook you up with my honest recruiter at Dewy Int. (not an oxymoron he is honest) However, I guess most of you can not have my job when I leave it... unless ya all got urself one of these ere Edumacation Lysisiess in ur State from ur Gobernment- that is ur a reel teecher in ur home country lyke me. |

Yeah, well since you're set on Korea and kimcheese instead of Taiwan and time trials, there is supposed to be an area not too far from Busan where there's somewhat of a cycling scene... "changwon" is supposed to be good for riding and whatnot...
I got a killer deal on a new bike on Ebay -- brand new cannondale, full dura-ace, carbon cranks, ksyriums to boot for only 1600$~! I had to go home anyway for a family matter, so I just picked it up and brought it back to avoid the government foreign rape tax and shipping fee... Too bad about the wheels, because I had an extra wheel set you could have used but I put it on my Trek in order to make the sale... |
