I still love the show but I have to agree with the critics.....it was all over the map this year. I think the writers made a mess of things this season. It seemed lke they brought in every character they could think of and then dismissed them just as quickly. The plot was all over the place. Anyway, they've signed on for another 2 seasons, so hopefully they'll get back on track next year. In all fairness, they must be struggling for new ideas at this stage of the game.

Early on I started to notice several similarities with season 2. There was a conflict between White House staffers which led to one of them backing down, there was missing nuclear weaponry, and so on.

And then for the last bunch of episodes they totally changed the plot about these Chinese people.

I haven't seen the final episode, just the first 23. I'll watch it tonight.

it was OK, it really petered out after the opening 4 hours. it was like the writers couldnt find their focus

still a lot of unresolved questions after the final episode.

wont spoil it but it got really sappy at the end

they need to learn something from "the shield" writers

I just watched the final episode. It definitely lacked the excitement of past seasons. They did a lot of credibility stretching. I was a little wary at the beginning of the season when Jack gets out of 20 months of torture in a Chinese prison with the physique of a guy that looked like he spent those 20 months working out in the gym everyday. In case any didn't know next season there will be no Jack Bauer as he's taking a year off to do a movie, plus rumours had it that he had an altercation with some of the production staff. Still he'll be back after next season to do a 24 movie.

I don't know how they'll be able to do that. Jack Bauer IS the show. Well, now that you mentioned that, there could have been some foreshadowing. Maybe Rick Schroeder's character will be the hero next season. It would be an interesting change if he was the guy saving the day next season. From the season finale, he'd also have to do it blind in one eye (sorry for the spoiler). Still, it'll be weird having a season wthout Jack.

I didn't like the stand off between the Russians and the Americans, when really they both should have been pissed off at the Chinese.

Did anyone see the season finale of Simpsons? They pulled another "South Park Already Did It," doing a 24-style parody. The South Park 24 parody was way better, even though the simpsons had Kiefer Sutherland. It seems every second Simpsons episode these days was already done on South Park.

BTM, I've read that he's filming the movie between seasons and he will be back for the 2008 season. Also, there's going to be a location change. Next season, Jack will be battling the terrorists in NYC. I think that's a great idea. They've been in LA for a long time now. I think it would be a good idea if Bauer was dealing with a new CTU unit out of New York. I think the show needs a new cast to shake things up.
