Anybody read the book? I just saw the interview on the Daily Show with the author and it was pretty good:

I saw that too. Really want to get it. Whatthebook has it for delivery within 2 business days, so I'm wondering if other local bookstores might have it.

I'll probably just end up ordering it from whatthebook. But the other book I want is a two week wait and I'm a *beep* for free shipping.

I've read it. It's a sympathetic history of Islam. It is complete in the sense of addressing the major sectarian differences in Islam, their historical and doctrinal differences. It doesn't really deal in depth with the current problems and conflicts within Islam, but as a history, that wasn't really its aim. The author's goal, as I understood it, was to provide a historical foundation of knowledge for people about the religion. I think he does a good job at that.

Sounds like just what I'm looking for. Though I try to be fairly knowledgeable about stuff, I realized while watching that interview that I know squat about Islam. Thanks!

I have not seen the book around anywhere. However, that interview was on tv over a year ago. The interesting stuff that the author said in the interview was about a revolution that he speculated about. Hopefully it is a revolution and not a 'revolution' I was hoping the book would focus on that but from Woland that does not seem the case. Anyway, it is a great title. If folks realized that, life would be much better.
