This is such a joke!
The EPIK admin is going to be transferred to some other office in Seoul this year for whatever reason. So those on the "programme" now will have received an email talking about this.
I think this is the saddest incentive to get us to recruit people we know to the programme:
Quote: |
EPIK is inviting 251 EPIK teachers to be placed at primary and secondary schools on September 1st this year. We have promoted the program through the EPIK website, Korean missions abroad, press media, and a variety of websites including universities and colleges in English speaking countries. We are convinced, however, that the most effective and desirable way to promote the program is by word of mouth with your assistance. Your knowledge of the schools, the program and your circle of friends and acquaintances could be a most valuable resource in our recruiting goals.
We therefore cordially invite you to promote our program to your circle of friends and acquaintances. For your valuable effort and contribution in this matter, if the qualified individual(s) you recommend is selected as an EPIK assistant teacher and placed at a public school as of September 1, we will express our appreciation with a finder's fee of 100,000 W for each individual thoroughly processed.
- How you can promote: By phone, e-mail, words, personal website, etc. |
100 000won? No thanks. Not worth my while. |

Better than nothing.
Attention all newbies!!!!
If you're considering EPIK program, please mention my name "JD1982."
When I collect the money from EPIK, we'll have a big party at Itaewon. |

umm, honestly, what do you want, a million won?
sure, i would like more, but that is enough at least to show they appreciate what you are doing, really, you might just be saying "hey, come to korea."
yeah, if you are actively calling and recruiting, heck no, but for a friendly call, that is worth 100G. |

Somebody is saving a heap of cash here. Recruiters' fees run about 1 million won - and they are offering 100,000. |

not quite, but it would be a better incentive.
And even though my job is not to be a recruiter, we all know that they pay recruiters a shitload more than 100 000 a person. |

I think some of my friends might punch me in the head if I coaxed them into teaching at a public school here. And who could blame them? |

If I referred my friends to public school jobs, I don't think my friends would remain my friends no more. They'll become my worst enemies. |

At my old hogwon I found a new teacher when I was leaving. My director gave me 500,000. |
