Good news. I support Korea here. Why should it be called the Sea of Japan anyways? Oh I know, Gurin Guy, Ilsanman and the rest of the Japan lovers will come here and call me all sorts of crap, but I really dont care. If you love Japan so much just go to Tokyo. Yakazuni and its war criminals are waiting for ya. |

It doesn't matter what the "International Hydrographic Organization" says. The accepted English language term for that body of water is the Sea of Japan. Foreign governments cannot change that the accepted English language term for something is, any attempt to do so is just laughable. Its like if Australians organized a big campaign to get Koreans to call their country 아스트라리아 or something instead of 허주, it would be pointless... |

| Is anyone actually going to change what they call it? I am never going to stop calling it the Sea of Japan, and not because of the whole stupid issue, but because that is what it is to me. |

| It could be argued that the word "East" is also as problematic as the "Sea of Japan." East of who or what? The relativistic aspect of this name has the propensity to continue creating a stir. In any case, at least it was not renamed "Sea of Corea." Whew. |

| Maybe we can name it the "Liancourt Rocks Sea". I mean, if both are so worried about the English name of the sea, let's give it a real English name. |

Jinju, I seriously feel sorry for you. It's really not healthy to harbour this grudge. You have nothing better to do, so you create a thread just to bait me and people who have different opinions than yourself.
Then since you have nothing at all to add to the debate, you tell us to leave the country. Do you have anything intelligent to add to this discussion?
Man, you need to get over it. Agree to disagree. |

It would be good if they could rename it to something more universal but nothing as ambiguous as the East Sea. Its certainly not east of Japan, for example.
The current name tells me exactly where the sea is hence its better that the term East Sea (though if it were called the Far East Sea). Really it does not matter. I believe the English Channel is known as the La Manche canal (or something similar) in most European countries but as far as I know the English arent too upset about it. |

Gulf of Mexico = Are Cube and the United States making a stink about it? No!
South China Sea = Are Vietnam and the Philippines making a stink about it? No!
Arabian Sea = Are India and Pakistan making a stink about it? No!
Mozambique Channel = Is Madagascar making a stink about it? No?
Persian Gulf = Are Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Brunei, UAE, or Oman making a stink about it? No!
Indian Ocean - Are Australia, Madagascar, Kenya, Tanzinia, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Somolia, ect... making a stink about it? No!
I loose a lot of respect for the Koreans on this one.
What's done is done. Corea = give me a break you loosers!
Grow up! |

I wont change because I already call it the East Sea. I refuse to call it the Sea of You Know What. See? |

Sure it does. They set the rules for nomenclature
