Because I have been on vacation again.

Gotta hate all the 3 / 4 / 5 day weekends off with pay.

Where can I get a job with low pay and no time off?

It's not really very glamorous there, nomatter how much I tried to add as much elegance and passion to my life in the people and places i chose, the sameness of everything when one steps out onto the streets dissipated so much of any excitement i had from whatever I was doing and whomever i was with. No problems with Korea or Koreans, it's just a bit boring there.

-As one poster pointed out earlier - the sameness. Pohang is just a bigger Gyeongju is just a bigger Daegu is just a bigger Seoul. Its all the same.

-Crap Korean food.

-Lack of relationship or REAL dating opportunities. I don't count all the chicks who want free English lessons or the delusional teacher who has, after months of dropping the ball decided that all Korean gals are easy and precedes to broadcast his fictitious exploits all over the web. Also, hookers don't count.

- Crap weather

- Racist Koreans

- Stupid Korean humor/pop culture

What a stupid choice. Uh... there are a thousand other reasons. For example your poll could read:

Money.
Culture.
Been there, done that. Want to experience another country.
Educational issues for my children.
The needs of my spouse.
The needs of my parents or other family members.
Getting a higher education on the campus of a non-Korean university.
Returned to work in my non-ESL career.

And so-on and so-on.

I really hate it when people view the world in such starkly either/or, black/white ways. Haven't you grown up enough to see there is more to it than that?

I think the OP means....why are you not in Korea, but you're still posting on a Korean ESL Forum?

lol. Thank you Cedar,

Thats why I invented this stupid post. Someone else put a poll up asking why people were IN Korea with the same two choices. I was mocking the other post. Your sentiments are my sentiments.

(nuimbers are mine)

1. Seoul has flavor from all over the world that most other cities don't have.

2. Korean food is great, and if you don't like it all, eat galbi, ribs, chicken, pizza and bosintang a lot! Also, Seoul has every kind of food imaginable, see number 1.

3. Good relationships are more difficult for foreigners, whether you date expats or locals, but if you have solid relationships in your home country, you can have a solid one here. Learning the language helps this a lot, but it's not necessary.

4. 4 seasons! 5 if you count monsoon season. Korean summers are hot and humid, just like my home's summers. Korean falls are beautiful, just like my home's falls. Korean winters are not too cold, though it wish it snowed more, and there's ski resorts all over, much like my home's winters. Korean springs are nice, beautiful and like my home's springs.

5. Researching the culture, why Koreans are racist, expecting a bit of racism and then disregarding the small minority of Koreans who show their racism alleviates this problem.

6. Turn off your TV.

Korea has its faults, but it's a great place.

While I partially or fully agree with your other points, I had to laugh out loud at this one. I've lived in and visited a lot of big cities, and Seoul does not even come close to the worst of them for food. It's nearly always Koreanized. Italian = Spaghetti, Spaghetti and Spaghetti. Indian = A handful of mediocre restaurants dotted around, er, Itaewon. French = Good restaurant at the Hyatt, fucking expensive. Japanese = Generally Koreanized to some degree. Chinese = Jajjangmyun anyone? + a handful of real Chinese restaurant dotted around the city. Greek = One good restaurant in Itaewon as I remember, not much else. Turkish / Arab - off we go to the Mosque again. I could go on. I've noticed that in other Asian cities there are always international restaurants owned and run by nationals of the cuisine on offer, since Koreans make it incredibly difficult for foreign companies, even small ones, to open without at least 51% Korean ownership, thus the city suffers in terms of what's on offer. And that's just how a lot of people like it there I reckon.
