I'm due to go get my visa extended for another year; however, my passport expires in June of '04. Being that there is less than one year - but greater than 6 months - left of validity of my passport, will Immigration allow me to renew my visa?

Same thing happened to me.

They gave me a visa up the point of expiry of my current passport. After I got my new passport (search the forums for info on that) here, I had to go back, and they extended the visa for the rest of the year. It was relatively painless.

Good luck!

I would appreciate it if anyone could help me:

I am working for YBM/ECC

I am contractually obliged to work Saturdays I think but was told I wasnt going to need to at first.

I am now in Korea so what is the case with airfare? Can i push to get it all as promised even though i am in Korea?

CAN I GET ANOTHER JOB EVEN THOUGH I SIGNED A CONTRACT as i havent got an E2 VISA yet?
===============

I am supposed to be going to JAPAN (osaka) on a visa run on tuesday - is it easy to get a job in OSAKA or is it better to stay in Korea as you get accommodation here.

What would happen if i got another job here in Korea as even though ive signed a contract im on a tourist visa yeah?...i havent got an E2 yet so would i be able to get a better paid job?

Same thing happened to me last December and I can tell you BTM is perfectly correct. They'll extend up to the date of expiration of your passport and beyond that when you present your new one

Hows this for a similar, somewhat related, conundrum:My passport expired when I was living illegally in Australia. Renewing the passport was no problem with the discrete british embassy. Leaving australia was the next hurdle. They searched in vain for a visa in my new passport ( I was 10 months over the date). I told them I'd thrown away the old passport.
Result: Interrogation, search, and a 3 year ban.
