I mean, didn't it stop being funny in primary school?
My freshmen students still laugh at dong jokes like I would laugh at Gervais.
So, my question is: do Koreans have a more immature sense of humour or is toilet humour and slapstick really that funny?
Not to sound condescending, but when I was a freshmen I was listening/watching Monty Python and other genius forms of ha HA ha.
just an observation.

By "Freshmen" you mean univ. students?
Anyway, yeah, Koreans do seem to be fond of scatological humour. How to account for that, I really don't know.... |

Well...poop is funny; but I've noticed that most countries are not on the same cynical level of humor as the west is...which honestly I'm more and more grateful for. When people can still laugh at poop and slapstick, instead of "comedies about nothing", etc, it makes me a little warm inside. And not warm with poop. |

I think they do. My Korean friends have tried to tell me that Koreans often employ sarcasm in their humour but I rarely see it. Either their sarcasm isn't very sophisticated or I am watching the wrong comedy shows (I speak Korean quite well too). I often see examples slapstick comedy at work dinners too. I think it's because Koreans are very visual people and this manifests itself in their humour. Comedy in Korea is all about visual clues. |

| Koreans do indeed have an immature sense of humor! One needs to look no further than all those "comedy" channels and the ones that come on mbc,sbs..sunday evenings to figure it out. Dressed up in school clothes and the like, audience girls "oooohing and aaahing" because a guy learns to throw a running two hand girly punch at a punch meter...what a bunch of geeks...and this obsession with zhit and flatulence...Get real Korea! |

You're probably too young, but if you remember the Young Ones, you'll probably recall that much of the humour was scatalogical. Funny too. |
